Pizzelle Maker & Where To Find One

By Mikee Dunn

When I was growing up, I remember some of my friends used to invite me over every now and then for dinner at their house or something like that. I’ll never forget going to my Italian friend’s house, where his grandmother and mother would be cooking all day to make a delicious meal for the entire family, and sometimes even me. I always enjoyed the Panini’s, pastas, sauces and bread that the family would eat, but perhaps my favorite of all was when it came time for dessert. That’s because for dessert we had pizzelles, which are basically Italian cookies or pastries. Mmm…his grandmother knew that I loved those and she made them every time.

Today, I no longer live in that neighborhood, and sadly I have lost touch with my friend. But every now and then, I would crave those delicious pizzelles. Finally I found a pizzelle maker online and I ordered one. They offered two different kinds for sale: a pizzelle maker that can cook four pizzelles at once or one that could cook two at once. I decided that I would get the one that did two at once, because those were larger and they cooked in the same amount of time: just thirty seconds! That’s right, in thirty seconds you can now have all the pizzelles that you and your family could possibly eat. It’s all made possible by the Villaware Pizzelle Maker!

I finally bought my new Pizzelle maker and was ready to use it. All I needed to know now was how to make one. Pizzelles are basically wafer cookies and I was never much of a pastry chef, so this was a new challenge to me. Flour, eggs, sugar, butter and vegetable oil are all you need to make a tasty treat for everyone to enjoy. A little bit of flavoring and some confectioners sugar later and you have yourself a delicious treat. A treat that many Italians would only eat on Christmas, Easter or weddings can now be eaten every day for any occasion. This is made possible, of course, by the thirty second cooking time of any Villaware pizzelle maker. Plus, pizzelles will come out in a beautiful snowflake outline to jazz things up a little bit.

As you can see, a Villaware pizzelle maker is one of the best purchases you could make for your own kitchen at home. I know that when I bought mine to relive my youth, I was not disappointed. I don’t think that you will be either.

Making Ice Cream Cones With Pizzelle Makers

By Elizabeth Lang

Pizzelles are a tasty Italian treat usually made from flour, sugar, and eggs. Most people will recognize them from family traditions around the holidays or from the outside of a cannoli. (Cannolis have a pizzelle on the outside and are rolled with a cream on the inside.) But, one of the best ways to eat a pizzelle is to have it as an ice cream cone.

To make a pizzelle cone you must first make a pizzelle. Pizzelles can be made on a pizzelle iron or pizzelle maker. Most pizzelle makers are electric and very simple to use. You make the dough, as shown in the recipe that follows, then you put some of the batter on the pizzelle maker. Next, you should close the top of the pizzelle maker down on the dough, and wait for approximately one minute. Once the pizzelle stops steaming, you can open the maker and your pizzelle is done. If you've ever made waffles in a waffle maker, you will find making a pizzelle to be very simple.

To make the pizzelle into a cone you must do the following:

Immediately after the pizzelle comes off the pizzelle maker: use a pizzelle cone roller to roller the pizzelle into an cream cone shape. Then pinch the seem together. (Warning, the pizzelle cone will be hot.)

Let the ice cream cone cool on a cooling rack. Let harden. Once it's hard you will be able to put ice cream in the pizzelle and have your very own ice cream cone.

Here's one of the best recipes I've found for making pizzelles into ice cream cones: (Makes 3-6 cones)

1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 egg whites
3/4 cups confectioners sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Step 1: Melt butter and place aside and cool.
Step 2: Beat egg whites until stiff.
Step 3: Into egg whites, fold in confectioners sugar, salt and vanilla. Then fold in flour.
Step 4: Fold cooled butter into mixture.
Step 5: Preheat pizzelle maker: Place 1/4 cup of mixture into maker.
Step 6: When done cooking, roll into ice cream cone.

In these easy 6 steps you can have your own homemade ice cream cone made with a pizzelle maker.

Elizabeth Lang is an ice cream lover and frequently makes pizzelles and pizzelle cones on her pizzelle maker and waffle cones on her waffle cone maker.

Pizzelle Maker

Villaware Pizzelle Maker
By Mikee Dunn

When people ask me what my favorite Italian dessert is, I tell them that hands down, I love pizzelle. This Italian pastry has kept me satisfied every since the first time I had it at a friends house many years ago. After my friend and I lost contact, I still wanted to eat pizzelle but I had a hard time finding a pizzelle maker that was reliable and that could replicate the tastes of old Italy. That was until I found a Villaware pizzelle maker that could make these delicious pastries in the same style and taste as the ones that people have at Italian weddings.

A Villaware pizzelle maker comes in many different makes and models. You can chose between the four and the two pizzelle griddle, based on your choice of whether you want two large ones for you and another person or four smaller ones if you are cooking for an impatient family. Either way, the Villaware pizzelle makers can cook a pizzelle in less than thirty seconds making the cooking of them fun and fast. A Villaware pizzelle maker also comes with a traditional fiori pattern and you are guaranteed to get the thinnest and most delicious pizzelles you’ll ever be able to find on this side of the pond.

A Villaware pizzelle maker also comes with a non stick cooking surface for not only easy cooking, but also easy cleaning. The polished metal grills won’t stick meaning that you no longer have to settle for broken or less than par pizzelles. The large handles on the Villaware pizzelle maker are made to protect your hands from burning or other injury. The large hinges also provide for easy opening and closing for people who pour more batter than needed. Whenever you cook a pizzelle you will need the right ingredients. Flour, eggs, sugar, butter, vegetable oil, and flavoring are all needed ingredients for cooking your pizzelle. After your pizzelle is done cooking, you can sprinkle confectioner sugar on it to add to the delicious taste of it.

As you can plainly see, a Villaware pizzelle maker is the only option when you want to cook the best and most delicious pizzelles for you and your loved ones. They taste just like the real thing. You’ll feel like you are at an Italian coffee shop sipping your cup of coffee or tea and eating this delicious pastry.
